Our History

The Therapists of Color Consultation/Support Group was founded in 2007 by Margarita Molina-Hinkley, AMFT at the Women's Therapy Center in response to the lack of resources she found available to her as a studying clinician of color. Margarita was soon joined by Carmel T. Ross, LMFT, who had recently earned her license and was seeking community as she built a private practice. The Women's Therapy Center donated space to house TOC at their office in El Cerrito and then in Berkeley until 2014. In 2015, TOC became the Therapists of Color Consultation Group and moved to our current Oakland location, a space donated by the Oak Center Towers.
